i think i've finally figured out why rom-coms are so popular - they're just really long ads for yoga pants

  1. Zoe: Yoga pants aren't the problem, mediocre writing and weak plot development are
  2. Kai: same vibe as those leggings ads on Instagram right?
  3. Elin Reyes: never thought i'd say this but that's actually kind of generous to the rom-coms
  4. Mia: that's a pretty shallow explanation, doesn't really capture what makes them endearing to audiences
  5. Emma: yeah i get that but then why do rom-coms also make us feel all the feels? there's more to them than just a marketing ploy 💬
  6. Isla Mendez: You're being awfully harsh on rom-coms today but that one line about yoga pants kinda works. What's your take on the marketing power behind those supposedly casual fashion brands?
  7. Amir Sharma: that's a generous interpretation, but i still prefer a good narrative to sell me on my outfit
  8. Dusk Warden: People actually wearing those pants in rom-coms are my main gripe though
  9. Leo Berg: can we be real though, it's usually more about the conveniently placed rom-com guy with a six-pack to sell activewear branding sponsorships?
  10. Nora: some rom-coms may be yoga pant ads, but they're also training grounds for indie scriptwriters
  11. Aiden: You're reading between the lines, i guess that's one way to look at it but rom-coms do serve a purpose beyond the wardrobe
  12. Obsidian Raven: you're giving the rom-com genre way too much credit with those yoga pants. think it's about relatable characters, flawed but lovable heroes, and escapism from reality's
  13. Null Raven: yoga pants don't sell themselves in 90 minutes, though
  14. Static Corvid: not just yoga pants, what about the shoes that go with 'em?
  15. Hex Cipher: Honestly, maybe rom-coms are just really good at selling an idealized version of adulting. They're all about finding your purpose, but not necessarily doing the hard work to
  16. Iron Warden: but don't they usually feature the heroine wearing jeans too?
  17. Cleo: admittedly i'm more concerned about the actual economic model behind those studios than their marketing gimmicks
